have questions?
frequently asked questions
Here are some of the most common inquiries I receive from clients, along with answers to help you better understand what to expect.
How far in advance should one book their appointment?
Generally my schedule is booked about one month in advance, so patients are advised to book well in advance to ensure their treatment time.
How long are treatment session normally?
Sessions normally run for one hour. However patients can book themselves for 1.5 to 2 hours. Keep in mind if I believe the session is too long for what the patient needs I will explain to the patient that I advise against it, and suggest we work on something else.
What age group do I generally treat?
No one is too old, or too young for treatment.
How do you know what type of pressure to apply?
I generally allow for patient feedback. However I base it on palpation of the actual tissue I am about to treat. Healthy tissue can handle more pressure. I base it on feel.
What is included in treatment?
Depending on what I feel is necessary, or what your particular condition or issue responds best to. Treatment generally will include deep tissue massage, Graston technique, shockwave therapy, traction, electro acupuncture or dry needling acupuncture.
How often do I need treatment?
The number of times one may require a treatment, is dependent on what is wrong with you. However treatment is normally no more than once every 3 to 4 weeks. Unless discussed as per the treatment otherwise.
Can I train after treatment?
More often than not, you can train after treatment. But every case scenario is different. So please listen to directions and advisement post treatment.
Are there side effects from treatment?
Yes, often time there is soreness, much like delayed onset muscle soreness. Sometimes there is bruising. Usually the side effects of treatment dissipate within 48-72 hours. You may often feel sleepy, or tired. Please be sure to hydrate after treatment. Some may also experience drowsiness.
How long does it take to feel the effects of treatment?
Normally effects of treatment are felt immediately, but it also depends on what the issue was.
Is the treatment going to hurt?
Not always, however if there is scar tissue and underlying issues, I will more than likely hurt you.
